Here’s our story and how it all started.

Richard Kemp founded Kemp Insurance in 1976.

He operated the business from his farm on Johnson Ridge Rd, Somerton, Ohio, before eventually opening an office located at 280 West Main Street Barnesville, Ohio. The agency was owned and operated by his daughter Kim from 2000 to 2025. Kemp Insurance has been an independent agency offering personal home, auto, farm owner, business and life insurance products. Excellent customer service has always set them apart from other insurance agencies in the area.

In February 2025, Tuscarawas Insurance Agency purchased Kemp Insurance from Kim and will continue to operate under the Kemp Insurance name, marking the opening of our fourth location.
